DSMapStudio Version History & Changelog

DSMapStudio's public history runs from v1.00 (July 2022) to v1.11.1 (June 2024) — about two years of releases that grew it from an early Elden Ring map/param editor into the integrated studio used across nine games. The changelog isn't trivia: it tells you when a feature or game landed (so you know the minimum version you need) and marks where development effectively paused — the key fact for anyone modding current Elden Ring. The download page always serves the latest build; this is the history behind it.

Current release — v1.11.1

The newest release is v1.11.1 (June 2024), a hotfix on v1.11 that addressed Sekiro walkroutes, Dark Souls 3 map loading, and texture rendering. But it does not support the Elden Ring update that shipped with Shadow of the Erdtree (patch 1.12+) — that boundary is why current-patch Elden Ring modders are pointed to Smithbox. For every other supported game, v1.11.1 is the stable, complete version.

Major milestones

A few releases changed what the tool could do:

  • v1.00 (Jul 2022) — initial release, early Elden Ring map and param editing.
  • v1.02.2 (Aug 2022) — param editing without unpacking the whole game, lowering the barrier for params-only work.
  • v1.04 (Oct 2022) — full Elden Ring 1.07 support, the BTL (lighting) editor, multi-object editing, customizable keybindings.
  • v1.06 (Dec 2022) — DS2 map param editing and the CalcCorrectGraph visualizer for stat-scaling curves.
  • v1.08 (Apr 2023) — moved to .NET 7, automatic update checking, enhanced mass edit, param reference navigation.
  • v1.09 (Oct 2023) — the Low Requirements executable (no GPU) and Armored Core 6 support.
  • v1.10 (Dec 2023) — property search, AOB scanning, and MCG/MCP navmesh generation for Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls.
  • v1.11 (Jun 2024) — the Asset Browser, Asset Prefabs, duplicate entity ID detection, improved Text Editor.

Why v1.11.1 is the last for now

Development on DSMapStudio itself effectively wound down after June 2024, which is why v1.11.1 doesn't read Elden Ring patch 1.12+ (post–Shadow of the Erdtree): no release came after that update changed the file format. Active development largely continued through Smithbox, the community fork that picked up where DSMapStudio left off and supports current patches. So if your game is older or you're modding the Souls titles, v1.11.1 is complete and stable; if you're on current Elden Ring and hit "Unknown DCX format," that's the version boundary, not a bug — see Unknown DCX format and DSMapStudio vs Smithbox.
